Moxa Releases IIoT Gateway Starter Kit With AWS Support

IIoT, remember the term. Industrial Internet of Things is a thing, and all set for takeoff. Moxa is moving in early, as the company has just launched the IIoT Gateway Start Kit.

Which comes with built-in support for the AWS cloud platform.

This product is designed to serve the needs of system integrators and engineers that are developing applications for the IIoT. It is designed to be ready for data acquisition, and provides users with a ready to use platform that simplifies the development of IIoT solutions.

Including the necessary essentials to get data from edge devices to cloud services, with little to no programing required.

All this results in faster development, integration and time to market, and provides system integrators with the boost they need to implement their solutions in this highly dynamic field that has been receiving massive attention lately.

Johnny Fang, a product manager in the Embedded Computing Division at Moxa, says:

To enable faster integration between things in the field and services on the cloud and to help users to get their solutions to market sooner, we’re actively working to add support for more and more cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, Google IoT Core, and Schneider Wonderware in the coming releases.”

The main component of the starter kit is the ThingsPro Gateway, which is basically a ready to run data acquisition software platform that simplifies the complex task of transferring edge data to the cloud.

Equally important is the UC-8112 Edge Computer, an industrial grade communication centric computing platform that packs in a 1GHz ARM processor, 512MB RAM, along with two LAN ports and two serial ports, all in a rugged, palm sized box.

Both of these combine to allow for a seamlessly development of IIoT solutions for a variety of verticals like smart manufacturing, solar power, wind energy, electric vehicle charging stations, water and waste water monitoring.
