Amazon Web Services, recently announced that Oath, Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon (NYSE, NASDAQ: VZ), has selected AWS as its preferred public cloud provider. according to Amazon PR

Oath is a subsidiary of Verizon, which combines its Yahoo and AOL properties along with Go90. It’s essentially Verizon’s media arm. AWS already hosts a number of Oath’s partners including AOL.com, HuffPost and Tumblr also including Yahoo.com, Yahoo Finance, and Yahoo Sports, serving more than a billion people around the world. AWS’s vast global infrastructure has enabled Oath to increase its availability, reduce latency, and support the expansion of its international operations..

AWS is already home to Oath’s marquee web properties, including AOL.com, HuffPost, and Tumblr. Oath also runs key segments of its programmatic advertising businesses on AWS. As a result, Oath has been able to elastically scale its core, revenue-producing advertising platforms to achieve greater efficiency and customer performance.

Amazon Web Services is one of the top cloud data services available today, with many companies using the service to host its content. This includes the likes of Netflix, Capital One, Choice Hotels, AutoDesk and many more. AWS, as well as media storage, is excellent for running other services, like AutoDesk, which makes software for its customers. AWS is a hugely popular service is the market leader in cloud services getting a customer like Verizon’s Oath is huge.
